Cast hope for second Chinn success

From the Bolton Evening News, first published Wednesday 18th Sep 2002.

MEMBERS of Tyldesley Little Theatre will be hoping that lightning strikes twice when they open their new season with Jimmie Chinn's play, The Garden Party.

Chinn was the writer behind last season's opening offering from the theatre, Straight and Narrow, which proved highly successful.

Now the hope is to emulate last year's success with yet another play which combines poignant drama with humour.

The Garden Party will be staged from September 24 to 28 at the theatre in Lemon Street, Tyldesley.

Once again Chinn assembles various members of a family each of who has their own complicated, and often secret, crosses to bear.

Winnie Beatty, Tony Thompson, Hazel and Mike Rimmer, and Ian Taylor will all be tackling Chinn characters for the second time. Margaret Speakes will be directing the play, and tickets are available on 01204 655619 or 01942 886908.

The long-suffering couple at the centre of the play will be Kay Taylor and Ken Berry, both desperately hoping for a relaxing birthday party in the garden. There is the central mother figure who desperately plots to achieve family happiness while her children bicker and bawl. Many of the same cast members will once again feature in the Chinn play.
