Afternoon at music school

THE next recital in the Bolton School Arts Centre Chamber Music Series is on Sunday, February 1, at 3 pm is a joint one featuring Lorna Rushton and Jacqueline Davies.

Lorna, who studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the National Opera Studio, is in great demand as a soprano soloist in opera, concert, chamber and symphonic work.

She has performed at most of the UK major concert venues and sung in opera performances all over the world.

For six months last year she sang Violetta in La Traviata with Travelling Opera in a UK tour and at the Barbados Opera Festival, and performed in Rossini's opera L'Occasione Fa il Ladro at the William Walton estate in Ischia and at the Buxton Festival.

Jacqueline is the official accompanist for The Mastersingers choir and with them has recorded and toured both in the UK and Europe. Next year a further recording and a tour of Canada are planned.

In their joint recital, Lorna and Jacqueline will perform works by Chopin, Poulenc and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

A translation of the Spanish and French words is promised and, as usual, the recital will be followed by tea and scones.
